During a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly-renovated Global Trade & Logistics Lab at Miami Central, Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and JPMorgan Chase will announce the kick-off of two new academies that will prepare students from Miami Central SHS, Ronald Reagan/Doral SHS and Alonzo & Tracy Mourning SHS for careers in cybersecurity and trade & logistics. These are two of the most in-demand fields in Miami-Dade, according to the skills gap report produced by JPMC’s New Skills at Work local initiative and information from One Community One Goal. The new Academies are supported by a $230,000 grant from JPMorgan Chase and will help expand participation from the city’s diverse youth in these industries.

With the aim to help the next generation of local workers prepare for high demand jobs, JPMorgan Chase is investing $230,000 to support two innovative NAF Career and Technical Education career academy programs in Global Trade & Logistics and Cybersecurity, two of the seven targeted industries identified by the Beacon Council as top growth sectors in Miami. Participating students will earn industry certifications to open paths for immediate workforce readiness or postsecondary education.
