M-DCPS Academies Receive More Distinguished and Model Level Designations From NAF than Any Other District in the Nation

Twelve Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) academies were identified by the National Academy Foundation (NAF) network as Distinguished on their annual assessment, a designation that represents NAF’s highest level of achievement.  Of the 40 academies in the network that have reached the Distinguished level, 12 are in M-DCPS, the most for any district in the nation.

NAF identified an additional 100 academies as Model level, of which 20 are in M-DCPS, also the most for any district.  The NAF Distinguished and Model designations indicate that these academies deliver high quality educational experiences for high school students that prepare them for success in college and careers.

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools continues to transform education and expand academic enrichment opportunities for students,” said Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho. “The NAF recognition demonstrates our strong academic focus on providing well-designed learning academies that maximize future post-secondary and career opportunities for students. Our amazing NAF educators, instructional leaders, and industry professionals work together to create a learning experience for students that is robust and career relevant.”
