Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho, School Board Member Dr. Martin Karp, Principal Dr. Allison Harley, District administrators and school staff, and students gathered together this morning to officially kickoff the General Obligation Bond Project at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School.
Slated to be completed in August 2018, this GOB investment of $9.8 million will provide an innovative replica of the iPrep concept and will accommodate a full high school iPrep curriculum on the Krop campus. At completion, the new building will accommodate up to 600 students.
The School Board commissioned Silva Architects for the project. The architect is both M/WBE and SBE/MBE certified. The School Board also awarded the construction contract to Thornton Construction Company. The contractor is M/WBE certified. The architects have committed to SBE/MBE sub-consultant participation goals of 27 percent and the contractor has committed to 26.12 percent SBE/MBE sub-contracting goals.
