Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho, School Board member Dr. Marta Pérez, School Principal Dr. Aileen Vega, and District and school administrators joined students at Coral Park Elementary School this morning to break ground on Coral Park’s construction project.
Slated to be completed September 2018, the $4.8 million investment will provide for a number of improvements, including demolition of existing portables and an existing building, site restoration, a new 12-classroom building comprising 216 student stations, a new parent drop-off and covered walkway, a new physical education shelter and basketball hard courts, additional parking, classroom technology upgrades, and other miscellaneous improvements throughout the school.
The School Board commissioned Rodriguez Architects and T&G Constructors as the architects and construction manager, respectively. The total sub-consultant Small Business Enterprise (SBE) participation for construction is expected to be 29.53 percent. Aspirational goals were also established for this project as follows: 10 percent African-American and 5 percent Woman-Owned.
