MAS 6-12 @ Zelda Glazer wins 2nd Place in the High School category
Student teams from middle and high schools from around the state gathered at Seminole State College of Florida in Sanford, early this month, to show off their knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. The students from Bob Graham Educational Center won first place to win the Middle School State Championship.
“We the People” is an instructional program that enhances students understanding of the institutions of American constitutional democracy. Students discover the contemporary relevance of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The culminating activity is a simulated congressional hearing in which students “testify” before a panel of judges.
They demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of constitutional principles and have opportunities to evaluate, take, and defend positions on relevant historical and contemporary issues. The program promotes civic competence and responsibility among the nation’s upper elementary and secondary students and enjoys active support from the Center for Civic Education, state bar associations and foundations, and other educational, professional, business, and community organizations across the nation.
Miami Arts Studio 6-12 @ Zelda Glazer had great results at the competition winning second place in the high school category; Best Unit for students: Amelia Raudales, Jennifer Galindo, Max Salazar and Emily Wolman; and the Professionalism award for a High School. They were under the leadership of Marta M. Salazar, Entertainment Law Studies lead teacher.
