Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) hosted the groundbreaking of a new turf football field this morning at Miami Beach Senior High School. The endeavor is a collaboration of several partners, including the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee, the Miami Dolphins, the City of Miami Beach and Miami Beach High’s PTSA. The field is expected to be completed prior to Super Bowl LIV on February 2, 2020.
“Miami-Dade County Public Schools is thrilled about this new and exciting football field that will benefit our students,” said Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho. “Miami Beach Senior High and the surrounding community will be able to cheer on their beloved Hi Tides for generations to come thanks to this rewarding partnership.”
Miami Beach Senior High School is among the oldest public high schools in South Florida and has a proud history of being an integral part of the close-knit community. The City of Miami Beach has pledged $350,000 to M-DCPS and the Miami Dolphins Foundation has committed $250,000 to Beach Senior High’s PTSA.
“We are honored to contribute to Stephen Ross’ legacy at Miami Beach Senior High by installing a new turf field for their athletic teams,” said Miami Dolphins Vice Chairman and CEO Tom Garfinkel. “The Dolphins are thoroughly committed to creating opportunities for South Florida’s youth to practice and play football in a fun, safe and healthy environment as we continue to be stewards of the game.”
