Schools Superintendent Alberto M.
Carvalho, School Board member Susie Castillo, Ronald Reagan/Doral Senior High Principal
Juan Carlos Boué, District administrators and Reagan Senior High students gathered
yesterday for a topping-out ceremony at a new K-8 Center in Doral.
A topping-out ceremony is an age-old tradition that highlights the progress of a construction job, marks a milestone or announces that a project is nearing its completion.
Zyscovich Architects and General Contractor Thornton Construction Company have worked on phase I of the $18.6 million project, which includes, but is not limited to, a 59,000 sq. ft.-two-story school facility, housing 750 student stations, administrative offices, art lab, media center, kitchen, dining area and much more. The project’s completion date is August 2020.
The school bond projects resulted from voter approval of the $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond. The bond is being used to modernize and construct school buildings throughout the District, expand student capacity, enhance facility safety, and provide technology upgrades at all schools.
