The Miami-Dade School Board approved the commissioning of an architect and two construction awards related to General Obligation Bond (GOB) projects valued at approximately $20.1 million, at its regular monthly meeting today.
Voters overwhelmingly approved the GOB in 2012 to renovate, remodel and replace schools; expand student capacity; enhance safety; and provide technology upgrades. The following are details of the projects:
Coral Gables Senior High School – the proposed scope of work includes: replacement of exterior windows, security cameras, covered walkways, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, Energy Management system, and acoustical ceiling; campus-wide ADA improvements throughout; upgrades to restrooms, existing fire alarm, utilities and infrastructure throughout; replacement of all water fountains; and other miscellaneous improvements throughout.
Total project allocation - $15.1 million Completion – January 2023
Total Sub-Consultant S/MBE Participation: 27.8 percent
Total
Sub-Consultant M/WBE Participation: 8 percent
North County K-8 Center - the proposed scope of work includes: replacement of exterior windows, storefronts and campus-wide fire alarm; new HVAC system and ADA water coolers; selective ceiling/flooring/lighting/electrical upgrades, restroom renovations; milling and resurfacing of basketball court area, restriping of playing courts, selective painting throughout and miscellaneous upgrades.
Total project allocation - $ 3.7 million Completion – March 2021
Total Sub-Consultant S/MBE Participation: 18.5 percent
Total Sub- Consultant M/WBE Participation: 20.2 percent
Gulfstream Elementary – the proposed scope of work includes: a new bus drop off with covered walkways, repairs to the existing parking area, expansion of the parking area with the addition of 36 new spaces for a combined total of 82 spaces, new basketball court for the existing ESE building, new fitness area, and miscellaneous improvements.
Total project allocation - $ 1.3 million Completion – December 2020
Total Sub-Consultant S/MBE Participation: 68.8 percent
Total Sub- Consultant M/WBE Participation: 2.9 percent
All scope shall include related repairs
to civil, structural, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and finishes as required
and in compliance with Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Design
Standards.
