M-DCPS Unveils New GOB Project at D.A. Dorsey Technical College

Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho, School Board member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall, Principal Dr. Angela Thomas DuPree, District administrators, school staff and students gathered this morning to unveil a multi-phased renovation project at D.A. Dorsey Technical College.

Medical Assisting student Diana Casimir had a unique perspective on the school’s renovations, “Because of this new environment, walking inside now you can smell the education. I am happy and ready to learn.”

Architect Laura M. Perez & Associates worked with construction managers Carivon Construction on the $3.3 million Phase I and H.A. Contracting Co. on the $2.6 million Phase II of this GOB project which among the renovations include: new classroom technology; a complete remodeling of Building 3, renovation to classroom Building 4; structural upgrades, security camera system; renovation of restrooms; replacement of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), flooring and ceiling; electrical upgrades; exterior and interior painting; ADA ramp and covered walkway entrance and other miscellaneous improvements throughout.

The school bond projects resulted from voter approval of the $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond. The bond is being used to modernize and construct school buildings throughout the District, expand student capacity, enhance facility safety, and provide technology upgrades at all schools.
