17 M-DCPS SCHOOLS HONORED WITH FIVE STAR SCHOOL AWARD
As a testament to their commitment to community involvement, 17 Miami-Dade County Public Schools earned the distinction of being named a prestigious Five Star School by the Florida Department of Education during the 2007-2008 school year. In order to earn this recognition, schools must have achieved 100 percent of the established criteria in the following categories: business partnerships, family involvement, volunteerism, student community service, and school advisory councils.
The 2007-2008 Five Star School award-winning schools are listed below:
Air Base Elementary, Charles R. Hadley Elementary, Coconut Grove Elementary, Coral Gables Elementary, Cutler Ridge Elementary/Assurant Satellite Learning Center, , Kendale Elementary, David Lawrence Jr. K-8 Center, William Lehman Elementary, Miami Lakes K-8 Center, Miami Springs Elementary, North Twin Lakes Elementary, Ojus Elementary, Silver Bluff Elementary, and Eugenia B. Thomas K-8 Center, Herbert A. Ammons Middle, Howard D. McMillan Middle, and Coral Reef Senior High.
The schools were recently recognized for their achievements by the School Board at its September meeting.
