Miami-Dade County Council of PTAs/PTSAs President Mindy Gould (l) listens to a parent

THE CONSUMMATE ADVOCATE FOR CHILDREN

Parents are full of hope for their children’s success, and the most important thing they can do is to become involved in their children’s education. Joining your school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) or Parent Teacher/Student Association (PTSA) is an excellent way to be involved. This participation is important at every level of a child’s education, especially in the critical adolescent years. Parents should maintain open and honest communication and work together with the teachers to assist students in making academic decisions and planning for the future.

"If we empower parents, the results will follow.  Use PTA as the vehicle for getting involved with your child's education.  By connecting schools with families we will have a positive impact in our children's lives," said Miami-Dade County Council of PTA/PTSA President Mindy Gould.

The Miami-Dade County Council of PTA/PTSA is the largest council of PTAs/PTSAs in the state of Florida with nearly 59,000 members.  Its mission is simple. The organization is an advocate for children in schools and in the community as well as before government agencies and organizations that make decisions affecting children. It helps parents build the necessary skills to support and protect their child and encourages parent and public involvement.

Contact your child’s school to see how you can become involved in this worthwhile organization or visit http://pta.dadeschools.net/index.asp for more information.
