Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Humana are hosting the 8th annual Scholarship Saturday 5K Run/Walk to benefit the College Assistance Program (CAP) at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, Apr. 22, at Tamiami Park, 11201 S.W. 24 Street.

Commemorative awards will be presented to the top three overall and masters winners, male and female, in several divisions and special categories. This year's event also features a new prize, the Superintendent's 5K Challenge Cup, awarded to the school that enters the most student and staff participants.

The fee to enter the competition is $15 for adults and $6 for students. The entry deadline is Tuesday, Apr. 18. A late fee will apply thereafter.

CAP provided hundreds of scholarship grants to students from Miami-Dade's public schools last year.

For applications and more information, contact Larry Wooten at Hammocks Middle School, 305-385-0896 or Dr. Jayne Greenberg at 305-995-1963.
