Nearly 1,000 students and their mentors from the 500 Role Models of Excellence Project will serve as honorary Grand Marshals in the City of Opa-locka's Arabian Nights Festival parade.

This year's parade will take place from 10 am. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, along N.W. 151 Street beginning at N.W. 27th Avenue and ending at Perviz Avenue.

The theme for this year’s festival, "Lets Celebrate," was chosen by the festival committee to honor the 500 Role Models, mentors, volunteers who help improve the lives of children.

Along with the Role Models group, the parade will include more than 50 marching bands, cheerleading units, dance ensembles, and other auxiliaries.

For more information, call the Role Models’ office at 305-995-2451.
