Miami-Dade County's public school students will kick off Black History Month with a Black History Celebration Program sponsored by the 500 Role Models of Excellence Project on Monday, Feb. 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Miami Edison Middle School's auditorium, 6101 N.W. 2 Avenue, Miami.

Renowned actor Tommy Ford of FOX Television's New York Undercover and The Martin Show is the guest speaker. Ford also is the creator of "Be Still and Know," an educational coloring book filled with inspirational lessons for children.

Theatrical and choral presentations will be performed by students from Miami Northwestern Senior High School's Performing and Visual Arts Center and Miami Jackson Senior High School's chorus.
