Gov. Jeb Bush will be inducted as a mentor in the nationally acclaimed 500 Role Models of Excellence project at its sixth annual breakfast scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Monday Jan. 18 at the Fontainebleau Hilton Resort & Towers, 4441 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach.

Florida's new governor also will be honored as the founder of the state's first charter school, the Liberty City Charter School. The school's principal, Katrina Wilson-Davis, will be recognized with him.

Keynote speaker for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Scholarship Breakfast will be attorney Willie Gary of Stuart, Florida, an entrepreneur and self-made millionaire. Toastmaster will be actor Tommy Ford of FOX television's “New York Undercover” and “The Martin Show.”

Conceived to link a broad spectrum of Miami-Dade County’s diverse community, the event provides scholarships for youngsters in the school district’s 500 Role Models of Excellence project.

Since its inception in 1993, the program founded by State Rep. Frederica S. Wilson has helped thousands of at-risk young men to go to college. The official sponsors of this year’s breakfast are American Airlines and AT&T.
