The Miami-Dade Coalition for Community Education (M-DCCE) presented
the annual School House Awards at its 13th Annual Scholarship Ball
held at the Sheraton Biscayne Bay on Friday, Oct. 22. The awards
honor those who encourage, enhance, and exemplify excellence in
community education. The event was co-sponsored by Miami-Dade County
Public Schools.
The awards were presented as follows:
• Superintendent's Award for outstanding principal to
Dr. Felicia D. Gil of Charles R. Hadley Elementary School
• Community Education Award for outstanding leadership
within a school and community to Dr. James B. Trantham,
Assistant Principal for Community Education at Mays Middle Community
School
• Hall of Fame Award for outstanding lengthy commitment
to the community school concept to Stanley C. Myers Community
Health Center
• Lou Tasse Adult Volunteer Award for outstanding
service/support of Community Education to Eric Lindholm, PTA
Second Vice President of Health and Safety at Gloria Floyd Elementary
School
• Lou Tasse Youth Volunteer Award for outstanding
service/support of Community Education to Kenneth Pardo
• John I. Smith Award for an outstanding organization or
business to COSTCO: Biscayne Boulevard
• Millennium Award for launching community education in
the 20th Century in Miami-Dade County, Florida, to Dr. Lou
Tasse
M-DCCE is a non-profit organization that supports programs in schools
