Senior high students from Miami-Dade's public schools competed
against their Florida peers last month at the 1999 DECA State Career
Development Conference in Orlando.
DECA is an association of marketing students that enhances marketing
education by providing related activities and leadership development
based directly on classroom study. Activities focus on competition,
at the local, state, and national levels, in some 17 diversified
career areas, including food marketing, hotel management, retailing,
and advertising.
Elected as state historian was Joangel Concepcion of North Miami
Beach Senior High. Claudio Sorrentino and Claudia Rosales of Miami
Beach Senior High won first place for Hospitality Management Team
Decision Making; William Garcia, Simone Clarke, and Ricardo Petitfond
of Miami Beach Senior High won first place for Learn and Earn Team
Project; and Allen Calzadilla of Barbara Goleman Senior High won
second place for Retail Marketing Research.
