The three senior high school winners of the first Minimum Wage Essay Contest recently were named by the school system's Division of Social Sciences/Special Programs and the Law Offices of Jonathan Kroner.

The winner of the first place, $500 prize is David Rodrigues of Coral Reef Senior High; the second place, $300 prize winner is Adam Frumkin-Sokolow of Miami Killian Senior High; and the third place, $200 prize winner is Nathalie Jordi of MAST Academy.

Over 70 senior high students submitted essays on the need for a Florida minimum wage law and why it is important for all regular employees to be protected by such a law. Kroner, who represents workers who do not earn the minimum wage, awarded the monetary prizes for the winning essays.
