At a meeting yesterday regarding Miami-Dade County Public Schools'
compliance with Florida's fire code, Federal Magistrate William
Turnoff noted that he has monitored corrections and is satisfied with
the progress made in bringing schools up to code. Counsel for Florida
Education Commissioner Tom Gallagher also expressed satisfaction with
progress made.
The meeting was held as part of an agreement in a lawsuit which seeks
to bring schools into compliance with the fire code.
