G. HOLMES BRADDOCK RETIREMENT FESTIVITIES, 5K RUN/WALK SET FOR OCTOBER 14

Veteran Miami-Dade County School Board Member G. Holmes Braddock, soon to retire after 38 years, will be feted Saturday, Oct. 14 by friends, colleagues and admirers, including TV and radio personality Larry King via video.

The day will begin with an 8 a.m. 5K Run/Walk at Tamiami Park, 11201 S.W. 24th St., Miami. Braddock, an avid walker, will lead the pack. Entry applications are due Oct. 6 with a $15 fee for adults and a $6 fee for students. After Oct. 6, all entry fees are $18. For an application, please call 305-995-1963.

The evening festivities will start with a 7 p.m. reception, followed by an 8 p.m. dinner and roast at the Radisson Mart Plaza Center, 777 N.W. 72nd Ave., Miami.

Open-seating tickets are $100 each. Tables of 10 may be purchased for $1,000 each with no donor recognition in the event program, or $1,500, $2,500, $3,500 or $5,000 with donor recognition.

Former South Florida news anchor Khambrell Marshall will return to Miami to host the bash. For more information about the celebration, please call 305-995-1215.

Proceeds for the day's events will benefit the College Assistance Program (CAP), which Braddock helped found. CAP awards scholarship grants to deserving public-school students who cannot afford all the expenses of college attendance.
