February 7, 2000

Terrance Fagan, a senior at Miami Norland Senior High School, has won the "Heart of Miami" Young Heroes Award sponsored by the Miami Subs Corporation and The Heart of America Foundation. The award honors youth who selflessly invest their energy, love, and time in their community to enrich the lives of others.

Fagan, 16, who began his community service when he attended the Miami Urban Ministries Youth Camp, has fed the hungry, cleaned highways, and painted churches. His leadership has encouraged his peers to also become active in the community.

The award will be given monthly throughout the year to a youngster. Each winner will receive a certificate and a computer from the Miami Subs Corporation. Each quarter, one winner will be chosen to receive a $5,000 scholarship also from Miami Subs.

Heart of America is a nonprofit humanitarian network that celebrates, honors, and empowers young people to lead by example.
