Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS), in collaboration with the Miami-Dade Literacy Coalition, will celebrate International Literacy Day on Thursday, Sept. 7.

Planned activities include visits by media personnel to classes at American Adult & Community Education Center,18350 N.W. 67 Avenue, Hialeah. Television newscasters Rick Sanchez, Laurie Jennings and Craig Stevens, and radio sports talk show host Ed Kaplan will address the various ways in which adult education initiatives impact county-wide literacy efforts.

M-DCPS,working with the Literacy Coalition, provides one-to-one tutoring in reading for children and adults; GED and high school completion courses; and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tutoring through its telephone hotline, 305-995-2300. Hotline operators answer inquiries in English, Spanish and Haitian-Creole.
