January 19, 2000

The Dade County Bar Association's Young Lawyers Section (DCBA-YLS) will conduct a "mock trial" from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Miami Senior High School, 2450 S.W. First St.

Designed to teach students about their constitutional rights and other principals of law, the program will utilize exhibits and testimony from an actual case prosecuted by former Assistant Dade Attorney Mark Eiglarsh, who cochairs the DCBA-YLS's School Committee. "This program allows high school students to gain a realistic sense of what it feels like to participate in a trial," said Eiglarsh.

Students will take on the roles of judge, jury, prosecution, defense, clerks, bailiff, and defendant. Audience members will be able to ask questions and give their opinions about the trial.

For further information, contact Erica Wright, of the DCBA-YLS, at 305-856-7069.
