Rosann Sidener, Assistant Principal of Nautilus Middle School, was
selected as Florida's Assistant Principal of the Year 2000. The
award, co-sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School
Principals and the McDonald's Corporation, recognizes Dr. Sidener's
greatest accomplishments to be the improved school climate that
encourages students to excel, and increased student achievement as
indicated by test scores.
The Assistant Principal of the Year award is presented to one
outstanding secondary school assistant principal in each state who
has succeeded in providing high quality learning opportunities for
students, demonstrated excellent leadership, and served their
community.
Among her accomplishments at Nautilus Middle School, Dr. Sidener has
instituted a school volunteer program, designed a student-at-risk
program to develop reading skills and character, added advanced
electives to the curriculum, and pioneered the use of technology to
enhance parent-teacher communication. She focuses on student
achievement and shares her vision for success with everyone at the
school. Dr. Sidener also was commended for working with Nautilus
teachers to ensure success for all students through teamwork within
the school and the community.
