M-DCPS AWARDED $24.5 MILLION IN QUALIFIED ZONE ACADEMY BONDS

Miami-Dade County Public Schools announced today that it has been
awarded $24.5 million in Qualified Zone Academy Bonds (QZABs) from
the Florida Department of Education. Created through the Taxpayer
Relief Act of 1997, QZABs are issued by the Internal Revenue Service
to each state based on its poverty population.
The 68 schools that applied for the bonds will receive funds for
projects such as new labs, classroom and building upgrades, room
renovations, data and electrical wiring, and computers and
software.
