At its September 8 meeting, the School Board of Miami-Dade County,
Florida elected Dr. Marta Perez, School Board Member for District 8,
as its representative to the Florida Partnership for School Readiness
Board.
This board, headed by former publisher of The Miami Herald and
current director of the Early Childhood Initiative Foundation, David
Lawrence, Jr., directs the implementation of programs spanning from
prenatal education for expectant mothers to educational programs for
