Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the United Teachers of Dade, and
local construction workers will hold a press conference tomorrow at
noon in Miami Jackson Senior High's media center to help kick off
President Clinton's "Rebuilding Our Nation's Schools" campaign.
The president will launch the campaign simultaneously in Des Moines,
Iowa. Jackson High is at 1751 N.W. 36 St.
M-DCPS and UTD will join school districts and teacher unions around
the country to call on Congress to vote for H.R. 1660, a bill
designed to help local school districts build, modernize, and repair
our nation's public schools and thereby reduce class sizes, enhance
student learning, and wire classrooms for 21st century
technology.
For more information on local activities, contact Alex Bromir, Chief
Administrator, Bureau of Community Services, at 305-995-1125, or
