NORTH TWIN LAKES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RECEIVES NATIONAL HONOR

North Twin Lakes Elementary School has been selected as one of six school across America to receive the National School Change Award from Fordham University. Principal A. Louise Harms will receive the award from U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige at a ceremony in New York City, July 17.

The award honors schools that have "significantly changed." North Twin Lakes Elementary has a record of marked improvement in its academic performance. School leaders have stressed consensus building among all stakeholders and improving delivery of the instructional program.

In addition to national recognition, the school will receive a $5,000 grant. Dr. Lew Smith, Associate Dean of Fordham University's Graduate School of Education and Florida K-12 Chancellor James Warford recently visited the school in association with the honor.
