TEACHERS SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN SUMMER SEMINARS

Nine Miami-Dade County public school teachers have been selected to participate in the Florida Humanities Council's Florida Center for Teachers 2003 summer seminars. The teachers were selected for their passion for learning and commitment to excellence in teaching.

The seminars, which are held in the Tampa Bay area, began in June and run through Aug. 1. Teachers are housed for one week at Eckerd College and participate in field trips, lectures and museum visits.

The teachers and their schools are:

  • Nydia Cabrera - Booker T. Washington Senior High

  • Elaine Davis-Diaz - Dante B. Fascell Elementary

  • Alex Heras - Norland Middle

  • Mariella Brenlla - Ponce de Leon Middle

  • Sharon Hine - Hammocks Middle

  • Melissa Keller-Gallagher - Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High

  • Morris Legg - Hialeah Senior High

  • Lourdes Fuller - Palm Springs North Elementary

  • Yvette Irizarry - MAST Academy
