SEVEN FINALISTS VIE FOR MIAMI-DADE'S TEACHER OF THE YEAR
AWARD
January 27, 2003
Miami-Dade County Public Schools' most outstanding teacher
will be named at the annual Francisco R. Walker Golden Apple
Teacher of the Year Ceremony at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29,
at the Radisson Mart Plaza Hotel, 711 N.W. 72 Ave., Miami.
Tickets for the event are $39 per person or $390 for a table
of ten.
Seven finalists have been nominated from the system's six
administrative regions and its Bureau of Adult/Vocational,
Alternative Education & Dropout Prevention. The region
or office represented, the nominees, the grades or subjects
they teach, and their schools are as follows:
Region I
- Eva Hernandez, Early Childhood Kindergarten, Mae
M. Walters Elementary;
Region
II - Lauren Susan Zelniker, Health Science, North
Miami Senior High;
Region
III - David Wesley Kirkpatrick,
Physics/Engineering, Miami Coral Park Senior High;
Region
IV - Erick Hueck, Chemistry, Miami Senior High
Region V
- Ibis Maria Bovo, Elementary Education, Marjory
Stoneman Douglas Elementary
Region
VI - Deborah Wong Mar, Music, Miami Southridge
Senior High
Bureau
of Adult/Vocational, Alternative Education & Dropout
Prevention - Kathleen Pham, Language Arts, School
