MAST ACADEMY TREASURER NAMED M-DCPS OFFICE EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

Wearing many hats as a volunteer in her school and community earned Tulia Levy, treasurer of the MAST Academy, the honor of being named Office Employee of the Year for Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

Levy, whose audits for her school have been perfect since 1989, serves on the MAST Educational Excellence School Advisory Council and the school's Technology Committee. She also has been recognized for her service to the Foundation for Blindness.

Runner-up in the annual competition was Joyce Caterineau, treasurer of Howard Drive Elementary School. Other finalists were Isabel Abesada, American Senior High School; Liliam Alvarez-Hurst, Ojus Elementary School; Gail Major-Poole, Liberty City Elementary School; Milagros Torres de Rodriguez, Leisure City Elementary K-8 Center; La-Chane Clark, Office of Risk and Benefits Management; and Venada L. Cromartie, Office of Adult/Vocational Alternative Education and Dropout Prevention.

The Office Employee of the Year competition is sponsored by the school district and United Teachers of Dade to recognize outstanding and dedicated office employees who play a vital role in the educational process. Contributing to the April 24 event were the Dade Association of School Administrators, Herff-Jones, Radisson Mart Plaza Hotel, the Dade County Council PTA/PTSA and United Way of Miami-Dade County.
