One Community One Goal Retreat, May 18

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS), in cooperation with the One Community One Goal ®, will hold its first retreat, Connecting 2001: Classrooms, Communities and Careers, on Friday, May 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the University of Miami's Storer Auditorium, 5250 University Drive, Coral Gables.

More than 175 teachers and administrators, along with professionals from South Florida's key growth industries, will gather to focus on ways of creating integrated curriculum for each of the school district's "industry focus academies." Currently, the school district operates 20 academies in 16 high schools in the areas of film and entertainment, biomedical, visitor, financial services and information technology/telecommunications.

Dr. Willard Daggett, president of the International Center for Leadership in Education, Inc., a nationally recognized authority on technology and workforce development, will be keynote speaker.
