Miami-Dade's Superintendent of Schools Merrett R. Stierheim today announced May's Books of the Month, in conjunction with the school district's successful JUST READ campaign to encourage reading. "Our monthly selections are quality reading materials that young readers and their families can read throughout the year," said Stierheim. Recommended by the district's reading and media specialists, these selections are to hone reading skills at various grade levels. May's selections are: MAY'S THEME - Author Study Kindergarten

Improved student test scores in reading comprehension prompted the Board to expand the plan in 2001 for another three years.
