SCHOOL BANDS TO PARTICIPATE IN JAZZ CONCERT SERIES

Three Miami-Dade County Public School (M-DCPS) jazz bands will participate in two free concerts at 6 p.m. on April 12th and 27th at Miami's historic Lyric Theater, 819 N.W. 2nd Ave.

On Friday, April 12th, the second annual 'Live at the Lyric' jazz concert series will kick off with North Miami Beach Senior High School's jazz ensemble under the direction of Melton Mustafa, and Miami Beach Senior High School's jazz ensemble under the director of Bringle Cidel, presenting classic and contemporary big band jazz renditions.

On Friday, April 27th, the Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School jazz ensemble under the direction of Eloys George will present an evening of Duke Ellington tunes.

Ed Williams, the first African-American announcer to work on staff at ABC television network, will host the series.
