TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN MENTORING SEMINAR TO BE HELD MARCH 13

March 4, 2002

Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Bureau of Community Services will present a Take Stock in Children mentoring seminar on Wednesday, March 13 from 3-7:30 p.m. at the Rusty Pelican Restaurant, 3201 Rickenbacker Causeway, Key Biscayne.

Dr. Susan G. Weinberger, an international consultant on mentoring and president of the Mentor Counseling Group in Connecticut, will present the seminar. Weinberger designed and developed the first one-on-one school-based mentoring program in America, the Norwalk Mentor Program, in the early 1980s and served as its director for 12 years. She has authored numerous journal articles and publications on the subject of mentoring.

District State Attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle will be the keynote speaker. Her participation as a Take Stock in Children mentor and her experience as a district state attorney will provide valuable insight into the many challenges facing youths in Miami-Dade County.
