STUDENT ART EXHIBIT TO CELEBRATE COEXISTENCE
January 14, 2004
Student art inspired by the international Coexistence
exhibit promoting harmony among the world's people will be
on display starting Friday, Jan. 16 at the Miami
International University of Art & Design (MIUAD), 1501
Biscayne Blvd.
Sponsored by MIUAD, Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the
Dade Community Foundation, the Coexistence Miami Student
Exhibition kicks off Friday with a 6-8 p.m. reception at
MIUAD. The show is an educational component of Coexistence,
an international, billboard-sized outdoor exhibit created by
more than 40 artists from around the world.
Now on tour around the United States, Coexistence made its
North American debut last November at Miami Dade College's
Wolfson Campus. The international exhibit was launched by
the Israeli-based Museum on the Seam for Dialogue,
Understanding and Coexistence, and is the brainchild of its
curator, Raphie Etgar.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools worked with exhibit
organizers in training art teachers to lead student field
trips to the exhibit at MIUAD, which will showcase student
art from all grade levels and 39 schools.
The Coexistence Miami Student Exhibition runs through Jan.
28. For more information, contact M-DCPS art supervisor Ray
Azcuy at 305-995-1984.
