M-DCPS STUDENTS WIN DISCOVER CARD SCHOLARSHIP

Two Miami-Dade County Public Schools juniors are state winners in the Discover Card Tribute Award Scholarship competition.

Xiaoyun Nong, from Miami Palmetto Senior High, won the Gold I division in the Science, Business & Technology Studies category. Ashley Hamilton, from Coral Reef Senior High, won the Gold II division in the Arts & Humanities Studies category.

The Tribute Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments of high school juniors throughout the country in three categories: Trade & Technical, Arts & Humanities, and Science, Business & Technology. Each state-level award includes a $2,500 scholarship. State-level Gold I winners go on to compete nationally for three $25,000 scholarships in each category.
