M-DCPS EDUCATOR NAMED 'DISNEYHAND' TEACHER WINNER

Miami Senior High School educator Joseph W. Underwood will
receive a 2004 DisneyHand Teacher Award during a July 22-27
gala in Los Angeles. He is one of 39 teachers from across
the country to be honored by The Walt Disney Company and
Disney Worldwide Outreach.
A 20-year teaching veteran, Underwood heads the Arts Related
Technology for Entertainment Careers (ARTEC) Program at
Miami Senior. ARTEC educates students interested in careers
in the television, movie and sound industries.
The DisneyHand Teaching Awards honor educators who create
thought-provoking curriculum and unique learning experiences
for students. Honorees receive $10,000 and professional
development. The honoree's school is awarded $5,000.
