August 31, 2004

Miami-Dade County Public Schools will break ground on the new state-of-the-art Doral Senior High School at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 1. The site is located at Northwest 86th Street and 107th Avenue. Superintendent Rudolph F. "Rudy" Crew is scheduled to attend the ceremony.

The 2000-student high school sits on a 20-acre site to include a 252,000-square-foot facility with high-tech labs for science, computers, theater, music, art and language arts. The center will accommodate vocational classes and serve as an emergency shelter for the fast-growing Doral community.

The total project cost is $40 million and is projected for completion in fall 2006.
