M-DCPS SCIENCE FAIR WINNERS HONORED, MOVE ON TO INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

Miami-Dade County Public Schools student finalists in last month's South Florida Science and Engineering Fair were honored Saturday night at Dr. Michael Krop Senior High School. They will move on to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair to be held May 8-15 in Portland, Ore.

Best Project went to Alexandra Marraccini of MAST Academy for her project, Close Primes and RSA Procedures: A Three Year Study. Runner-up in this category was Reshma Ramachandran of Coral Reef Senior High School.

Best Biological Project went to Lisha Constantine of American Senior High School for her project, Skeletal Troponin T That Causes Nemaline Myopathy. Runner-up in the category was Jennifer Ledon of Krop High.

Best Physical Science Project was awarded to Richard Shillington of Krop High for his project, As the Wheel Turns, The Energy Churns. Runner-up in this category was Madeline Goldstein, also from Krop High.

Honorable Mention went to Ariel Llizo of Doral Academy Charter High School, Monica Simo of MAST Academy, Parijata Mackey of Krop High and Andrew Lenoir of Gulliver Preparatory School.
