CAREER-FOCUSED STUDENTS SEEK SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

April 1, 2004

High school juniors and seniors enrolled in Miami-Dade County Public Schools' 32 career academies are seeking summer internships in film and entertainment, the biomedical industry, financial services, information technology and tourism &emdash; all key growth industries for Miami-Dade County.

Career academy students study in small learning communities within high schools, gaining academic skills through an industry-focused curriculum. Each curriculum has been developed with the advice of business professionals and with the community's economic future in mind.

Last year, more than 200 companies offered student internships. Companies interested in participating this year, should call the district's One Community, One Goal® office at 305-636-7400.
