Kendale Elementary School has been awarded the Intel/Scholastic Twenty-first Century School of Distinction Award for achievement in teamwork, one of 20 schools nationwide and the only one in Florida to receive it. The award includes a $10,000 grant from the Intel Foundation.

Created by Intel Corporation, Scholastic Inc., and the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Foundation, this national award program recognizes the best K-12 schools in the United States. Schools are judged in individual categories based on comprehensive programs exhibiting excellence in the use of technology, involvement of parents and community, professional development, teamwork and high academic standards.

"Kendale Elementary School is special because of its caring family atmosphere, continuous focus on excellence and striving to achieve what is best for all children," said Kristine Dittmar, the school's principal.

Each of the 20 winning schools will also receive curriculum materials, professional development resources, software and hardware. The winners were chosen from more than 1,200 applicants around the country. For additional information, contact Kristine Dittmar at 305-274-2735.
