M-DCPS PRINCIPAL HONORED IN STATEWIDE LEADERSHIP COMPETITION

Estela Santiago, principal of Dante B. Fascell Elementary School, was honored yesterday as one of five statewide finalists for the $10,000 Leonard Miller Principal Leadership Award. As a finalist, she received $500.

The award recognizes outstanding school leadership in student achievement, staff empowerment, and partnership and community involvement.

The award is given in honor of Leonard Miller, founder of the Council for Educational Change, the competition's sponsor. Approximately 185 principals throughout the state competed for the award.
