FLAGAMI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LOCKDOWN

April 16, 2004

This morning, at approximately 9 a.m., Flagami Elementary School was briefly placed in a lockdown. The lockdown occurred when a parent of a former student proceeded toward a portable classroom. The man is employed by an armored security company. A teacher observed security equipment the man was wearing and alerted the main office.

School administrators immediately placed the school in a lockdown. Police were contacted and responded quickly. Parents who were at the school at the time, or who called the school, were addressed by school staff and reassured of student and staff safety. Police located the man, questioned him, and verified his identification. Upon ascertaining that he was simply visiting the school, administrators lifted the lockdown, and school resumed as normal, at approximately 9:35 a.m.
