COMMUNITY LEADERS TO SERVE AS PUBLIC SCHOOL PRINCIPALS
FOR A DAY
MIAMI &endash;
What do a martial arts sensei, a landscape artist and an
Internal Revenue Service manager have in common? They are
among the more than 160 citizens who will participate in
Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Principal for a Day (PFAD)
program on Thursday, Dec. 2.
Professionals from all walks of life, including nurses,
government officials and bankers, among others, will spend
their day in the shoes of principals across the district.
One of the district's top priorities is to make members of
the business community active stakeholders in education.
This is an excellent opportunity for many of them to go into
schools and see first-hand what it really takes to run them.
They will learn how principals manage day-to-day operations
and lead their staffs in helping students achieve.
To assist these new principals, the school system's Bureau
of Community Services has established an informational
website with PFAD background, testimonials and suggested
activities, at http://community.dadeschools.net/pfad.
For a complete list of PFAD participants, please call the
Office of Public Relations at 305-995-1126.
For more information, call Cathy Hamilton-Green in the
Bureau of Community Services at 305-995-1857.
