April 27, 2004

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) will honor Mercy Hospital for its participation in Project Victory at a 9:30 a.m. breakfast reception on Thursday, April 29, at the Mercy Hospital Kohly Garden, 3663 South Miami Ave.

Project Victory is an employability skills training program for high school juniors and seniors with disabilities. Students receive individualized job training and school credit. They also are taught interpersonal skills and the importance of personal appearance and reliability.

"Project Victory not only teaches our students job skills that will help them throughout their lives, but also teaches them to be self-reliant and self-confident individuals," said Mercedes Toural, M-DCPS deputy superintendent of schools and chief education officer, who will attend the reception. "Mercy Hospital's participation in the project is an essential part of our efforts to prepare all our students for productive lives after graduation."
