January 30, 2004

Miami-Dade County Public Schools officials will be on hand to unveil a parent resource guide at a press conference on Monday, Feb. 2nd, at 10 a.m., at Charles Hadley Elementary School, 8400 NW 7th Street, Miami.

The Education Fund's Parent Resource Guide provides parents with important information about key education issues and the school district. It covers topics such as the FCAT, parent-teacher conferences, magnet schools, 3rd grade retention, the No Child Left Behind Act, home schooling and parent's legal rights. The guide is published in cooperation with The Education Fund, a non-profit organization focused on improving schools and bringing excellence to public education.

"This guide is an important tool for parents to be aware of and involved in the issues that most affect them and their children," said Superintendent of Schools Merrett R. Stierheim.
