M-DCPS EDUCATORS RECOGNIZED BY TEACH FOR AMERICA-MIAMI

A select group of Miami-Dade County Public Schools educators will be honored by Teach for America-Miami on Saturday, June 5 at 6 p.m. at Books and Books, 265 Aragon Ave in Coral Gables. Cindy Soell, the district's executive director of Staff Recruitment, will be one of the speakers at the event.

Teach for America is a national corps of outstanding graduates who commit two years to teach in urban or rural public schools. The district welcomed 40 Teach for America participants during the 2003-2004 school year and will have over 60 next year. Over half of them were nominated for Rookie Teacher of the Year. Eight corps members won the honor at their school and one won the award for their ACCESS Center.
