MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC SCHOOLS OFFERS SUMMER PROGRAM

MIAMI—M-DCPS will offer educational programs at selected sites during the summer session scheduled for June 26 - July 24. The summer services program, 2007 Passport to Real World Connections,assists students in meeting academic grade level requirements and offers activities to enrich the learning experience. The schedule and eligibility criteria for elementary, middle and senior high school students are listed in priority order. Registration is April 9 thru June 27.

Elementary
8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays)

Eligible Students:

  • Students who are being retained in grade 3
  • Incoming grade 3 students who scored at the first and second quartile on theStanfordAchievement Test, Tenth Edition
  • Students who were promoted to grade 4 for Good Cause only

Middle
9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Eligible Students: (may take a maximum of one course)

  • Selected incoming grade 6 students (limited space availability)
  • Grade 7 course failure (up to 1 course leading to promotion to grade 8)
  • Grade 8course failure (up to 1 course leading to promotion to grade 9)

Senior High
7:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
(Lunch: 12:45 p.m. - 1:15 p.m.)

Eligible Students:  (may take one annual course or two semestercourses for a maximum of one annual credit)

  • Selected incoming grade 9 students (limited space availability)
  • Grade 10 who have not passed the FCAT for graduation (space availability)
  • Grade 11 course failure (up to 1 course leading to promotion to grade 12)
  • Grade 11 who have not passed the FCAT for graduation (space availability)
  • Grade 12 course failure
  • Grade 12 students who need course recovery to improve GPAfor graduation
  • Grade 12 students who have not passed the FCAT for graduation

Students will be enrolled for summer services based on the priority list. Special Education (SPED) students who meet eligibility may participate in grade-appropriate summer services in accordance with their Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). Please contact your child’s school with questions regarding their summer program.
