SUPERINTENDENT RUDY CREW SELECTED AS
SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNER

Minority Development & Empowerment, Inc. announced that Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Rudy Crew has been selected to receive its 2007 Individual Spirit of Excellence Award.

Dr. Crew was nominated by Dr. Rudolph Moise, a local business and community leader. “Dr. Crew has consistently advocated for improving educational opportunities that enhances achievement for children in the Caribbean Community,” stated Moise, “and he has significantly improved the dialogue with the families of these students. As an educational leader, Dr. Crew has demonstrated the courage it takes to make the difficult choices necessary to implement the changes needed for realizing the vision of education excellence for all students in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools.”

“It is a true honor to be recognized by the Haitian and Caribbean Community,” said Dr. Crew. “The Spirit of Excellence Award is the result of a team effort. From classroom teachers to district administrators, we keep front and center what we need to give all our students so that they enter the world with boundless opportunities.”

Dr. Crew will be acknowledged during a Haitian Flag Day Celebration reception to be held at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, May 18th.
